Bird of Note
He came on many afternoons
In mid September heat.
The reddish breast
The antics rare.
The kind one likes to meet.
I set out seeds
For his strong beak.
He cracked all in his stride.
And never looked to me for thanks.
It went against his pride.
But all things said
A lonely bird.
And my yard did him well.
He made it Home
This Grosbeak gnome.
Where strangeness might dispel.
