Life

O Life
you can wreck much havoc
on a man's life

you can pinch his buttocks;
pull his ears;
raise his hackles;
pull his legs;
or give him a shattering knock
in the midst of a memorable enjoyment

you can go further
to hull him deep
into a smelling gutter;
get him well mingled
in the stinking filth;

Not satisfied,
you can delude him
into believing
into believing he has passed
your first thirst;
then with a fell swoop
descend on him with
a deadly blow;

In his convalescence,
and not minding his pitable condition,
you can still drag him
willy-nilly to a flaming furnace
and roast him
to a slow death.
Odiegwu!

About this poem

Life can wreck many havocs to a man. Job survived his tests, what about you? But, mind you, don't take me for a saddist, or a pessimist. I am a jolly good fellow.
