The Homeless Man
In the alleyway, a man resides
he's scraggly and unkempt
he's always hungry and cannot hide
from the glares of those who've contempt
they think he's a burden, an inconvenience
but they don't know his life's predicament
The world has been ruthless, his predicament
is that of being homeless, where he resides
among trash and filth, it's been an inconvenience
to maintain any semblance of cleanliness, unkempt
he suffers from disdain, their contempt
they pretend that he doesn't exist, can't hide
But in his eyes, the pain is hard to hide
because he's well-aware of his predicament
he feels like a waste, the object of contempt
he also knows how cruelly fate resides
and the cost of being unkempt
life on the streets is a cumbersome inconvenience
Being homeless is a life of inconvenience
it's hard to find a place to hide
when you're so blanketed in the unkempt
when you're a walking reminder of predicament
the man is forced to reside
with the feeling of constant contempt
The city has become a place of contempt
for people deemed as an inconvenience
a homeless man is just someone who resides
in the way, too hard to hide
pain and suffering are his constant predicament
all wrapped up in the unyielding unkempt
And yet, the man is more than his unkempt
his existence underlined by contempt
he refuses to be a slave to his predicament
acknowledging that life is an inconvenience
a chance to survive, with nowhere to hide
for he resides within the trials of his predicament
In the alleyway, a man resides
unkempt, suffering from contempt
homeless, facing an inconvenience
he's confronted by his constant predicament.
