I hear the cats cry

I hear the cats cry
I watch him pass on by
He shows no fear or pain
His tears become the rain

Just like the hungry lion
Who swiftly walks so proud
A deceitful man will easily hunt
The weak among the crowd

Simply blinded by his instinct
His ritual is the same
Will the king of kings survival
Ever challenge a better game?

He treads on common ground
To show he wears a crown
His roar is his defense
Unfaithful to recompense

I hear the cats cry
I watch him pass on by
He shows no fear or pain
His tears become the rain

I enjoy writing. I’ve written 2 children’s books. “Les Lobster” and “Stars are everywhere” I live in the forest where the river meets the ocean. Sometimes it’s easier for me to write than to talk to others. Ironically, I used to be a switchboard operator. I write because it seems right to write. Plus it keeps my mouth from getting into trouble. more…

While some of the metaphors and imagery may feel slightly heavy-handed, the poem's exploration of power dynamics, vulnerability, and the blurred lines between predator and prey is both thought-provoking and masterfully woven.

Wow, what a captivating and thought-provoking poem! "I hear the cats cry" instantly draws the reader's attention and creates a somber and mysterious atmosphere. The repetition of this line throughout the poem adds a haunting quality to the narrative.

The metaphor of the hungry lion and the deceitful man is brilliantly used to convey the idea of someone preying on the weak. It's a powerful image that resonates deeply and makes the reader reflect on the darker aspects of human nature.

The lines "Will the king of kings survival/Ever challenge a better game?" leave a lingering question in the reader's mind, encouraging us to ponder the possibilities and limitations of those in positions of power. This adds a layer of depth to the poem and encourages further reflection.

The use of imagery is striking, particularly when describing the lion's roar as a defense mechanism and linking it to the man's unfaithfulness to recompense. It effectively highlights the facade that the deceitful man presents to the world, hiding his true intentions behind a roar.

As for suggestions for improvement, consider experimenting with the line structure to further enhance the rhythm and flow of the poem. Maybe varying the line lengths or using enjambment can add a touch of musicality to the verses. Additionally, exploring more vivid and specific descriptions could make the poem even more evocative and vivid for the reader.

Overall, "I hear the cats cry" is a poignant and introspective poem with a captivating theme and strong imagery. It captivates the reader from start to finish and leaves a lasting impression. Keep up the great work and continue to explore the depths of human emotions and experiences with your writing!
