I Am Poetry....I Am Rhyme

As your ideas flow from within
I can feel what you are trying to say
You use me each and every time
I am poetry ....I am rhyme

Simple letters become words
Words become phrases
Your phrases are sublime
I am poetry....I am rhyme

Do not hesitate to write me
Put me down on paper
I am here for you each and every time
I am poetry....I am rhyme

Thoughts and feelings flow from you
They must find their way to written pages
This has been so throughout the ages
I am poetry....I am rhyme

With quill and ink, paper and pen
Ideas and memories you earnestly sought
Now come to you as you put down your thought
I am poetry....I am rhyme

Know me as you know yourself
Feelings surface looking for a place to land
The beautifully written word by your hand
I am poetry....I am rhyme

About this poem

I wanted to write a poem that describes what it is like to be the genre itself. How would poetry express itself?

I liked your attempt at capturing the ephemeral nature of poetry itself... itself! A creative endeavor that was truly admirable. Not to mention that the poem itself was an enjoyable read with a simple but solid structure.

This was such a great premise that was executed well. I would like to see more of your work. Keep writing.

It is how I began. Just write down your feelings and develop it from there.
Its mind medicine. She presented it well with rhyme.
    I liked it.

This one brought the real emotion of writing and the joy/pain that comes from the finished product.
