The Arbiter of ill Intent

It started so simple while feeling so right
For I didn’t suffer before your existence
Despite the odds, I somehow survived
In a dangerous world beyond the distance

I was a traveler on a road to better places
And like a wild animal, you had my scent
You were vile and you took what you pleased
If we become monsters; at least I’m content

You tried to destroy the good person I could be
Because you can’t stand someone who’s kind
And if my kindness was truly off putting
Why didn’t you just leave me behind

I should thank you for the lessons learned
So, I’ll say thank you now to The Arbiter of ill Intent
I didn’t stay broken on the ground
I got up again and shrugged off your torment

About this poem

It's about being hurt by a person or people and suffering. That it's okay to be a victim, to remember pain and tragedy; as long as you keep getting up.

I write poetry and it is often terrible. The poetry I wrote previously was so terrible I decided to take a ten year break. However, it seems the decade I decided to do everything but write poetry has seemingly increased my ability to write half-decent poetry. Life is weird. more…
