Why Try
Why Try?
By: Jonathan Conway
Anticipation
Like a robot
I can give you all the options
But decisions are not in my optics
Indecisive, the-the-the words come out stuttering
I apologize my precedent is muttering
The stars I look to see
So large and far they suck the breath right from me
Hopeless, knowing nothing is real
No use hoping
Do we even feel
L-Love is the predecessor of pain
Yet it is a hollow promise keeps me sane
Falsified blasphemies in a field of endless reeds
I wish to be better
Yet better can not be-be what I see
Laugh at the weak and they’re weak if they weep
My heart it bleeds, it seeps
Inhumane cruelty I live
In the world which joy is conducive
Down, down, down, a ship with no captain
Drown, drown, drown, in the sea of infinite emotions
Discontent not believing fate is imminent
I try and try to do my best
No sleep no rest
I write words on a page
F-F-Falsified blasphemies
I must persist
My best I must insist
Yet maybe the end is not nigh
Maybe we shan’t go sorrow into the night
Oh burn, burn bright
I see the heavens in sight
But hark…
Maybe I’m just being dramatic
But my emotions are not emphatic
As my brain starts to protest
My will is put to the test
Oh sorrow cries
My tired eyes
Someone please tell me!
Why do we try?
About this poem
This is a melodramatic poem asking the question, "Why do we even try?". I wrote this as I have been at moral quandary's lately between the thoughts of human right and wrong.
