"Yes!"

"Yes!"
Finally! He shared his last name with me, "Brooks," but now I feel overwhelmed and on the verge of tears, like a helpless newborn who doesn't even know what it needs.
How demanding this situation is! I whispered to myself.
But, at the same time, I am very pleased.
I'm experiencing a whirlwind of emotions, causing me to stumble and fumble repeatedly. I found myself gripping a small bit of flesh on my arm, hoping to jolt myself awake.
The sharp, searing pain from the pinch was enough to bring me back to reality, a reality that I believed was absent.
Just then, Jack walked into the room, playfully teasing.
Kim followed closely behind, radiating cheerfulness.
"Liars," I said with a mixture of joy, timidity, and embarrassment as the atmosphere shifted around us.
Then, I casually stated, "I need to use the restroom."
Opportunities often present themselves unexpectedly.
Plastic Barbie dolls, on the other hand, are designed for young girls.
A flood of questions quickly filled my mind, filling me with disbelief and doubt once again. Hasty decisions can lead to doom in any situation.
I need time to carefully consider all of this. Speaking too abruptly can make or break a beneficial agreement.
Tantrums are what immature individuals resort to.
"Karen, you are now thirty years old. It's now or never," I silently reminded myself, acknowledging that marriage is a weighty commitment and an essential step towards womanhood.
Valuing the continuation of one's legacy is a common sentiment.
Delaying a decision for too long can diminish the opportunities that come our way...hence a grave detriment.
Sigh... Xenophobia has influenced my actions in the past, but today, I will be brave.
"Yes! Marvin, yes, I will marry you."
After all, risks are an inherent part of life. There's no such thing as living without fears in this world.
So, right here and now is definitely a moment in time to screenshot and save.

About this poem

I wrote this poem because of a relationship I currently share with the love of my life Marvin. He is the chocolate flavor and inspiration in my life. I keep falling in love with him everyday.
