EMPTY PROMISES
As I contemplate the meaning of my Life
Tears fall from my bloodshot eyes
The Pain and Anger I mostly feel
Are the Empty Promises from the sky.
I’m told to turn, take up my cross,
And follow the One True God.
I, Chief of all the Sinners, am simply not worthy.
I am just not enough As worn on the faces of ones I Love
In knowing that I have failed them,
As a Husband, a Father, nor a Brother Be.
Plagued by the stench of unrepented Sin.
“For the wages of Sin is Death.”1
Promises, bring with them,
the sin of Arrogance, Jealousy, Fear, and Pride.
Void of all what’s Good
Humility, Tolerance, Patience, and Trust
As the dawn of a new day welcomes the Horizon Red,
I pray to the Son, Repenting my Awful Sins.
For Jesus is Lord who sends Unconditional Love
Transforming the Empty Promises from the Sky.
About this poem
To be the best person you can be is to identify your sins, either against yourself or another and truly repent. The Son will help you overcome every obstacle if you lay down your burdens at his feet and believe. Repentance is simply the act of identifying the deed and acknowledge that it is a sin and how to do better in the future and sincerely try not to repeat the same actions.
