Born to Porn

My addiction began when I was a young teen.
That was when I became obsessed with sex filled screens.
For me, the restroom was not just to go potty.
Oftentimes, I went in there to be naughty.
It was a safe space to feed my shame.
Somewhere to stoke the sexual flame.
Relentlessly, I stroked my member.
Slowly, I extinguished the ember.
I fell victim to online whores.
The need to pursue love was no more.
Dirty websites seriously damaged my brain.
Sperm and self control went down the drain.
I would search through many pages for just the right clip,
Unaware that I had already lost my grip.
It became a sort of sickening routine,
To find videos that were even more obscene.
Those scenes were seared inside my mind.
Now that’s all I see, I’ve gone blind.
Those graphic images led me astray.
To the point where I now think I’m gay.
I’m ashamed at how long it took,
For me to finally see the truth.
How reluctant I was to look.
Oh, how it compromised my youth!

About this poem

I wrote this poem in response to a revelation that I had regarding my porn addiction. I want to share my experience because I know that there are other people who can relate to me.
