The Broken Alarm

When I was just a little boy,
My parents never said
They were concerned my lack of joy
Looked like a sense of dread.

When teenage years had come to be,
My parents never spoke
About why no one came to see
Their son who rarely spoke.

They seemed to think my quiet ways
Would leave me on its own,
Or that it was a silly phase
And left me quite alone!

When I found out anxiety
Was causing so much harm,
It was too late for them to see
Since death killed the alarm!
