Voices

I want to make it, I want to break through this wall.

You'll never make it, you're made to fall.

But I'm stronger now, I can stand up tall

I can rise to the call, I can have it all.

Listen, don't walk before you can crawl

I'm the voice of reason

you'll fail and feel small

Go back to your bed and rest your head and curl up in your ball.

Why are you negative? All I want is a life,

I don't want to be imprisoned with nothing but a view of my vision,

I need to make a decision before I cut my throat with this knife.

It's laughable, you have a dream,

when I've watched you lie there and scream forget your little scheme

I'm your only source of comfort, I'm the piper now fall back in line I'm the supreme.

Why do you bring me down?

Every time I smile, you make me frown

I have the power to be

I can set myself free

Just let me be

I can fix my own crown.

Don't be so paranoid

I'm not here to harm

I know what's best, take your meds and rest

You need to be calm.

No more I let you in

I am me and not you,

I will win.

There's no you without me

I'm in that mirror you stare

I'm that look of despair

I'm that tearing at your hair

even your subconscious I am there

I'm the voice in your head, the compliment you misread

the profound word you just said

For millennia, I've misled.

I know what you are, and I know what am I

I know my mistakes and my truth and my lie

I've made peace with my soul, it's my time to fly No more in your shadow, your voice will not control

No more will I let you play your role

This will be my final reply before I let you die

I've got a new lease on life and hope is my new supply.

About this poem

This poem is a personal piece for me but represents the negative background voices in our minds that stop us progressing and chasing out goals.
