Comparison

What is there without the critics voice,
an empty serenity.
What is there without his constant corralling.
 perfect potentiality;
To be free is to be beyond all influence,
internal or external.
yet we flee into captivity..
We build the jails, we become the warden,
we impose limits on all,
most especially on our freedom,
we are judged by the past,
formed by its replication.
made dull by habit,
all thought is but comparison.
