Growing up and Video Games

Ever since the 70s video games have been shunned,

With parents saying things like

“Go outside and have some fun”

And if the kid dares to say "no" they are told to take a hike.

If a kid even looks at a console they are told

“That stuff will rot your brain”.

But the message of that phrase just might hold,

Because after a while, a child that plays every waking minute just won't be the same.

There are arguments that video games make you more mad,

But emotions are a part of life,

And if a video game makes you angry or sad,

It's not going to make you go outside brandishing a steak knife.

But now the kids we could once pick up seam heavier than a boulder,

So I have come up with a simple plan:

Since they won't be able to play that much when they get older,

They should enjoy their video games while they can.

About this poem

I wrote this poem to express my love of video games, and how it can affect kids in positive and negative ways.
