Unrequited Love 1❤️‍

In the quiet depths of longing's embrace,
I found myself drawn to his gentle grace.
A heart that whispered secrets untold,
Yet, in his eyes, a story unfolded.

He spoke of mistrust in women's guise,
And I, naive, saw love in his lies.
Yearning grew as days drifted by,
Dreaming of a love that could defy.

But fate, cruel mistress, had other plans,
As he chose another's waiting hands.
With pleading words and tear-stained pleas,
I begged for a love that could set me free.

Why did he kiss, why did he entwine,
If his heart already drew love's line?
I traced her steps, sought to understand,
What she possessed, that held his hand.

Yet in her eyes, I glimpsed the doubt,
Insecurities she carried about.
Yet his love, steadfast, did not wane,
While my heart bled with silent pain.

In the shadows of what could have been,
I learned love's lesson, bitter and keen.
For hearts choose paths we cannot sway,
And love's journey unfolds its own way.

So I release the dreams that once did gleam,
Of a love that was never meant for me.
In the quiet of night, I let him go,
For love, unreturned, must not grow.
