RINGING

RINGING

Church bells ring, in the back of my mind
I look for answers, I can't begin to find
Ringing in my ears, hurting my head
Another lost soul in the Land of the Dead

Shadow on my heart, ringing lies
The child of the soul weeps and cries
Man if pride, a cowboy's code
I'll carry my sin, bare my own load

Run, hide in the days of uncertainty
Not caring when the fall of the curtain be
Standing in my chains with arrogant pride
Accepting no help or compassion by my side

Hear the distant ring, of the dying day
A promise, a hope, of a better way
The king of the dead blocks my path
Listen closely to His wicked laugh

I will fear no good, the motto of the damned
Alone and lost on a path that's jammed
I fear evil, and I can't see that Hill
Tell me, is the Cross empty still?

Turn away from those, who dare hope not
I follow a trail seeking what? I know not
In God we trust, many have said
But few this path dared to tred

And I tell no lie, I didn't truly seek
It was God who led, God who speak
With a ring His Voice drew me ever more
Here is meaning, if you like ,He is the Door

And I opened, as I heard Him knock
He entered and taught me to walk
Walk this path, so very seldom tred
A way out of the Land of the Dead

How does this journey end?
It doesn't, that's it's Glory friend
He is both Journey, and the Goal
Son of God, Lover of our Soul

So ring Church bells, ring!
As I follow Heaven's King
Out of Death, to be restored
In the Light of Creation's Lord
Amen

About this poem

14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. 15 All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. 16 Only let us live up to what we have already attained. 17 Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do.18 For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Philippians 3:14- 18
