The Sea and I

The Sea and I are both alike,
Our moods to change both day and night.
We both are thoughtful, deep in sleep,
At night, when darkness starts to creep.

The Sea does sparkle, like eyes that glisten,
The Sea is calling to those who will listen
to all her tales, and thoughts of woe
her heart is beating like ours below.

About this poem

I wrote this poem when I was 14 years old and recently found it after my mum passed when clearing out her house. For some reason it anchors me and reminds me why I love poetry.
