DEVIL, LAMB, AND LION
Barry Green Jr 1973 (Florida)
DEVIL, LAMB, AND LION
“Lay down with the Lion”
The Devil told the Lamb
“For the Rock of Zion
Breaks Salvation's dam”
And thus the Lamb replied
“I am that very Rock
God's Glory's not denied
Its your Kingdom I will shock”
And old Devil tried again
“Walk through my little fire
For the river is said, not to end
When you're living your desire”
The Lamb told the Devil
“I on the water walk
To make the country level
And my Father's Will I talk”
To the Lamb the Devil said
“All kingdoms I will Give
If in my ways You tred
I alone can let You live”
“My life I lay down,
My life I take again”
The Lamb's quiet sound
Didn't seem to end
“Don't you know “ the Devil hiss
“This World belongs to me!
I'll take You by Judas' kiss
And you'll never again be!”
And in silence the Lamb was led
And the Devil stuck the Lamb
The world went quiet, He was Dead
And so creaked Salvation's Dam
Devil danced, a sound was heard
Coming From the Mount of Zion
For He ignored, God's own Word
That the Lamb, He was the Lion
With a Roar, the dam broke
Across the world, Salvation Flood
the Lamb, now Lion, in judgment spoke
As all the world was freed by the Blood
The Lion Spoke, the devil wept
“I am Lion, and I am Lamb
This is the Glory, my Father kept
And your destruction…I AM!”
The Lamb that was slain
His judgement so gave
The Lion that reign
The lost to save
Amen
About this poem
Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.” 6 Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits[a] of God sent out into all the earth. 7 He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne.
