Path Untraveled

In twilight's hush, where shadows sigh,
Two roads diverged beneath a dying sun;
I lingered long, as time slipped by,
A choice unmade—the heart left undone.

One path was bright with dreams and light,
Its vibrant leaves whispered tales of old—
But fear ensnared me in that fading sight,
The other beckoned with a hand so bold.

When morning broke with golden grace,
I chose the route less walked by souls;
Yet as I forged through hidden space,
Regrets arose like darkened swells and shoals.

Each step unfurled what could have been—
Songs unsung in whispered winds of chance;
In every turn lay ghosts within:
What treasures lost from fate’s cruel dance?

So here I stand at dusk’s soft gate,
Mourning paths obscured by veils of gray—
For choices made cannot be undone;
The road not taken haunts my weary way.

Oh fleeting joy! Oh silent thread!
In memories wrapped like leaves on ground—
This elegy for the dreams now dead:
Let my heart remember - though shyly bound.

As whispers fade into night’s embrace,
I’ll honor all those trails unseen;
Their echoes fill this empty space —
In absence loved—not quickly gleaned.

So may I tread anew each day,—
With wisdom drawn from roads behind;
And carry forth this bittersweet sway—a
Farewell to paths our hearts designed.
