I became to much to love

In the quiet dawn, where dreams take flight,
I found you there, a beacon of light.
With every heartbeat, I wove my intent,
To fill your world with love, pure and unbent.

I painted the skies with colors so bright,
Whispered sweet nothings in the softest night.
I gathered the stars, placed them in your hands,
Crafted a future, built on love’s strands.

But love, oh love, it’s a delicate dance,
A waltz of two souls, a fleeting romance.
I wanted to give you the moon and the sun,
But in my desire, I forgot we were one.

I dreamed of a life where laughter would reign,
Where joy would be endless, and sorrow, just rain.
Yet, as I reached out, my heart open wide,
I didn’t see how you began to hide.

I became too much, a tidal wave’s rush,
A storm of affection, a fervent crush.
I wrapped you in warmth, but it turned into heat,
And the love that I offered felt more like defeat.

You needed the space, the air to breathe free,
But I was a garden, too lush, too green,
With petals that smothered, with vines that entwined,
I lost sight of you, and I lost sight of time.

I wanted forever, a promise, a vow,
But the weight of my love became too much somehow.
I built you a castle, but forgot the door,
And you stood there, longing for something more.

I didn’t mean to break your heart, my dear,
To drown you in love, to bring forth the fear.
I thought I was giving, but I was a chain,
A beautiful burden, a sweet, aching pain.

In the echoes of silence, I heard your soft sigh,
The distance between us, a chasm so wide.
I watched as you faded, like dusk into night,
And I realized then, I had lost the fight.

I wanted to cherish, to hold you so close,
But I became too much, and you needed the most.
The dreams we had woven unraveled like thread,
And the love that I offered turned heavy instead.

Now I stand in the shadows, a ghost of the past,
Wishing I’d known how to love you at last.
To give you the space, to let you be free,
To love you in ways that you needed from me.

So here’s to the moments, the laughter, the tears,
To the love that we shared, to the hopes and the fears.
I’ll carry the lessons, the heartache, the touch,
Of a love that was real, but became too much.

In the quiet of night, I’ll whisper your name,
And remember the beauty, the joy, and the pain.
For though I became too much to love, it’s true,
I’ll always hold dear the love I had for you.
