The cross and the crown
**Verse 1**
In the shadows where I wandered, lost in sin’s embrace,
With a heart weighed down by sorrow, seeking grace.
But then You came to find me, lifted up my shame,
Nailed it to that rugged cross, forever changed my name.
**Chorus**
Jesus took the penalty, paid the price for me,
In His arms of mercy, I am finally free.
From the depths of darkness to eternal light,
He bore my pain and sorrow on that fateful night.
**Verse 2**
When the storms of life are raging and I'm tossed about,
I hear Your voice like thunder whispering so loud.
“Child of mine, remember; I walked this road before.
Every tear and every trial led you to My door.”
**Chorus**
Jesus took the penalty, paid the price for me,
In His arms of mercy, I am finally free.
From the depths of darkness to eternal light,
He bore my pain and sorrow on that fateful night.
**Bridge**
Oh what love was shown beneath those skies so dark!
A sacrifice unbroken; He ignited hope's spark.
Now we stand together in His glorious embrace—
The chains are shattered now; I’ve found my rightful place.
**Chorus**
Jesus took the penalty, paid the price for me,
In His arms of mercy, I am finally free.
From the depths of darkness to eternal light—
He bore my pain and sorrow on that fateful night.
**Outro**
So let us lift our voices with praises ever near—
For in His mighty victory we have no fear.
With every breath we take now let our hearts resound—
Jesus took our penalty; in Him we're glory-bound!
