The flame within

I replanted my hope,
Watered it with my tears.
Thought I would thrive, but I got buried deeper.
Each step I took whispered doubt in my ear;
Dreams and promises got swallowed by fears.

You can read my stories in my pallor complexion.
I guess I am just a cast in someone else's direction.
With a flame blazing within me,
I redrew the map time and again,
Hoping one day I'd escape this terrain.

Someday, I know,
The dawn would break through the crack of my sorrow,
Reaping the light hidden inside my soul.
It will guide me to the door and lead me to the shore
Embrace my skin until I am no longer a stranger,
Nurturing me toward all that I seek,
Right at the strike of the clock’s beat.
