An Elegy for the Easy Way to Heaven
In twilight whispers, they say there’s a road
paved with golden convenience,
where souls glide effortlessly,
no burdens carried, no stones unturned.
Here lies the promise of easy sighs—
one click away from salvation's grace.
A gentle breeze tugs at our hearts, reminding
us how we searched for shortcuts in all things:
a yearns’ youth spent chasing sparkling illusions,
as if heaven wore shoes that glided on air.
But in that serene beckoning glow—arise!
Hearts heavy with longing fail to grasp;
there are clutches tighter than chains:
deceit draped in soft velvet promises—
Yet still we wander this numbing path,
inked with blissful ignorance and glittering hopes.
Each step further into the thin veil of belief;
our features highlighted under false lights,
mirrored reflections of paradox.
The gates yawn wide with their facile allure—
but do you hear? The echoes whisper beware:
not every bright horizon yields eternal dawn;
for what is gained too simply slips through fingers like sand —
dreams diffuse against chilly winds of truth,—
and nowhere shall be home where love bears weight.
So pause amidst this fevered race to find glory;
recognize shadows lurking behind those sweet smiles,—
the cost tethered tight beneath fine linen folds.—
In this haste toward nebulous divides,
remember it’s not ease that lifts souls aloft
but grit woven through trials' enduring hand.
Let us ruminate upon paths less traveled,
worn by tears and laughter alike — rays seeping
through cracks in our weary exteriors,
for only here does authenticity dare venture
beyond borders gilded and easily crossed-
weakening ties bound by illusion but strong bonds carved
from heartbeats shared - hold fast those who stumble—
and instead build bridges ablaze with hope
to carry us together beyond fleeting schemes toward the dimming light.
And thus we gather all loose threads astray—
not searching for easy skies laid bare —
but sewn together under stars rich as dreams;
this journey cradled within lessons hard-earned
may lead us true between these hollows
towards destiny sprawled out beyond blind faith,
where each soul finds its unique soaring hymn-
in strife singing life back from merely floating clear across.
