Elegy for the Anglophone Lands
In the land where oak trees whisper,
England sighs beneath heavy skies,
the echoes of history linger—
stone and story entwined in ivy’s embrace.
Cobblestones bear witness to laughter and grief,
the soft lilt of voices on cobbled streets,
once wild with revolution now hushed under mist;
a nation cradled by dreams that dance like shadows.
Across the ocean's expanse,
where rivers carve their own journeys,
America rises—an anthem unfurling against horizons bright -
freedom wrapped in tumultuous times.
Ghosts roam through cities named innocence:
New York’s heartbeat pulses strong as thunder;
each skyscraper a monument to struggle framed by light—
but even freedom wears the scars of her battles.
And further north,
Canada unfolds softly like snowflakes settling—
maples stoop under the weight of seasons and stories,
breathe deeply in serenity found on lake shores
where whispers ride winds toward distant pines.
Inclusivity thrives here amid frigid silences—
multitudes harmonize beneath aurora's splendor;
yet sometimes solitude echoes louder than unity.
Sparks flare quietly among campfires shared at dusk.
Then stretching out towards seas that cradle dusk,
Australia calls with a voice raw as red earth;
here golden sands kiss azure waves all year long —
and yet scarred are these lands by ancients’ handprints
hidden beneath tireless suns and shimmering stars.
Vast expanses breathe tales forgotten –
sky above painted in ochre hues proclaim
both pain and beauty linger deep within each fold -
murmurs held sacred between valleys wide enough for dreams.
Together they stand as one—a tapestry weaved tight ——
woven threads dipped in strife but also grace:
melodies sung across parched fields or lush gardens
reflect hope that will not wane nor drift away unnoticed.
Elegies echo sweetly from coast to coast;
From England's stone hearths to Australia’s golden dunes —
barriers perhaps only imagined rise high above waters
that unite terrains once thought distinct from one another.
Beneath this sky of soft surrender thrive
shared hopes crisscrossed upon dreaming minds —
yearning still resonates through time’s tenacious grasp,
poised forever just beyond reach yet tangible within heartbeats —
So let us mourn not merely what could have been
but celebrate each thread woven into our existence!
For these four corners hold stories untold intertwined—
distorted reflections dancing light amidst shadowed pasts:
Where tragedy meets triumph along trails walked before us
in places named England, America, Canada…Australia;
may memory bless—the immensity teeming underneath them all,—
beneath incessant rains or sunlight blessed without cost—
As nightfall drapes its fabric o'er mountains vast e’en now
we gather resemblance carved lovingly inside such bonds
hearts promise today weave tomorrow anew perpetually alive
Amidst fading truths lie lives reborn eternally aglow
from roads less traveled unto ashes return softened twilight sighing
winding gently forth into centuries born again entire!
