In the Balance of Trust

In shadows deep, where hearts once bled,
I yearn no more for wounds, nor dread,
No longer seek the scars of trust,
Nor bend for love that turns to dust.

For I am precious, worth the fight,
To be defended, held so tight,
By those who see, in eyes, a gleam,
A soul that shines, a priceless dream.

I turn from those who claim my all,
But leave me teetering, set to fall,
Once, perhaps, I gave too much,
But now I crave a gentler touch.

For those who stay must lift me high,
Or I will leave, with tearless eye,
If they bring less than joy and light,
Then I alone will choose the flight.

I trust in silence, hands entwined,
To those who shield both heart and mind,
And should they falter, drift away,
I’ll find my path, alone, I’ll stay.

For in this life, I’ve learned to see,
What adds to me is meant to be.

About this poem

In the quiet resolve of a heart once torn, I seek no wounds, no battles worn. I long for trust, a sacred place, Where love uplifts, a gentle grace. Those who stay must add, not drain, Or I will walk, without the pain. For now I know my worth, my light— To be cherished, guarded, day and night.
