Only darkness

Things never really go as planned or the way you think it should go.
Things will go a certain way for awhile but then in a split second completely turn upside down.
Turning everything you thought about the world around you into utter disaster.
It's not just you or any certain person it's just life in general.
Life and things that happen cause people to completely break down and panic inside making them do things they wouldn't normally do.
Now I get it and see why people always seem like they have a lifetime of pain and tragedy.
A lifetime of thinking that nothing will go right and that they have no hope.
No hope of getting out of the darkness that they find themselves in.
No hope for the future and no way out of the darkness.
Searching but never finding the light or even away out of the darkness.
Wondering just how far you find yourself slipping away.
Just for a moment in a split second when things don't seem to go right and the world keeps trying to break us down.
We find ourselves turning into completely different people falling so far into the darkness that we can't get ourselves out it.
We have no hope of the future and no chances of getting out and finding the light.
Living only in the darkness in the split second that has so easily changed our lives.

I haven't had a disaster like that in some time (knock, knock) But I've had them. For years I had on my mirror where I could see it every day, "Worry doesn't empty tomorrow of it's sorrow, it empty's today of it's strength -Cory ten Boom" I was a single Dad, constantly struggling. I had others, too. Poems like yours' are a great way to let others know they are not alone. Someone searching for strength may read you and feel less alone. Nice write.
