Christ-Bearer

Called to nurture, to love to fruition
Naturally embracing the mission, the gift
Bringing and giving my Christ to the world
Being used as His vessel of joy and peace

Acknowledging the wisdom of God
Praising His works, glorifying with awe
Humble yet in heart, knowing I am but used
Privileged, honoured to receive this call

A prayer to use this gift well
Listening to the promptings accompanying
Knowing when to refrain, when to retract
Emotions not God's ways at times

A chosen heart closed, God knows
Not pushing through, letting the walls stay
Understanding the fear, the pain, the hurt
Letting time and will allow the light to seep in

Receiving to give, being given to share
Loving Christ in and through the broken
Mending the cracks for my Master
Bonding in mutual brokenness, journeying together

About this poem

Composed during a silent retreat; journaling a calling from Jesus of spiritual motherhood, and the living out of it through a call with a bereaved widow
