Tonight My Heart Speaks

Tonight My Heart Speaks

Tonight my heart speaks in sullen shades
Coloring emotions in darkest hue.

Feeling the gravity of her absence
The weight of loneliness hangs on my soul.

My mind wanders aimlessly
Turning my comfort zone into an empty refuge

And the smoldering fire of sudden departure
Rages red and turns joy to blackened ash

What good could my lips savor so distant
For she is so far away from me now,

Time only takes merciless steps to soften sorrow
Dragging consciousness through gloom and torture

What good am I without my pure companion
Filling my nights all aglow in moonlight and stars?

Tonight my heart speaks in sullen shades
As if my soul takes it leave in a whisper of her name

That same soul not quite the same sinks in sadness
A song so broken melody reduces to silence.

Where can a lonely one find comfort and solace
When my beloved no longer rests beside me?

Can the spirit, once leaping toward winged flight
So bereft, return to a current beyond alone?
