Too Late For A Change

My heart is heavy and burdened with regret
For all the chances I've let slip
I was too focused on what I couldn't get
That I missed the beauty in each little tip
Every time I said "it's too late"
I closed the door on endless possibility
My pride and ego sealed my fate
Now I dwell in a world of impossibility
I can't turn back time, I can't undo
The mistakes that I've made
No matter how much I plead and stew
My fate is already laid
It's too late to apologize
For the hurt that I've caused
My words and actions forever immortalized
In the minds of those who were once close
I wish I could start over with a handshake
A chance to make it right
But my prideful choices I can't shake
And now it's too late for a clean slate
I see the missed opportunities
And the chances I let pass by
But I was too busy chasing frivolities
To see the beauty in each goodbye
Now I walk on a path of endless regret
With each step a heavy burden to bear
For it's too late to change and forget
The choices I've made, the ones I can't repair
I try to bury the pain and guilt
But they rise up, strong and fierce
For my heart knows it's been rebuilt
And my choices have left a permanent pierce
I wish I could turn back the hands of time
To the moments I said "it's too late"
But now I'm stuck in this sorrowful rhyme
Because I chose to close the gate
It's too late for a second chance
To make things right and heal the pain
For my actions were too extreme to enhance
And now I'm left with nothing to gain
I see the hurt in their eyes
As I reach out with an apology
But it's too late for them to sympathize
For my words hold no sincerity
I wish I could change, I wish I could start anew
But the chance has long since passed
And now I'm left with nothing to pursue
But the memories of what could've been, alas
My heart is heavy, my soul is weary
For it's too late to turn the page
I'll forever dwell in a state of teary
Because I was too stubborn to change
So here I stand, in the aftermath
Of my choices, too late to amend
For it's too late to walk a different path
And my heart will never fully mend
Oh, how I wish I could go back
And make a different choice
But now I'm left with a heavy lack
And a voice that's lost its voice
It's too late to apologize
And too late to start over with a handshake
For my stubbornness and pride have left me paralyzed
And now it's too late for a change.
