Family issues

My parents fought, I was seven,
Dad beat Mom, my heart was broken.
He slept at a gas station nearby,
Twenty minutes away, I missed him, cried.

I thought they were perfect, but no,
Fights continued, my heart in tow.
Mom said, "Don't trust Dad, he's bad,"
But Dad cherished me, made me glad.

Brother got hurt, tape thrown,
My heart nearly jumped out, scared.

We went to Grandpa's, aunties and uncles came,
Prayed for peace, but fights resumed again.
I got used to it, numb and cold,
But deep inside, scars never grow old.

Grandma held us together, strong,
When she passed, everyone went wrong.
Uncles and aunts fought, too,
I haven't seen some in years, it's true.

I wish families never fought,
Just one big happy family, no more caught.
I yearn for love, unity, and peace,
No more pain, just relive.
