Beauty Vessel

The most beautiful boat

Looked out into the clear softly shifting waters
I waited a lifetime on this shore
calling to the crabs in this wet gritty sand
come out and play- I’m harmless I swear
when your ship comes over the foggy horizon
sand stones start dancing
endorphins are raging
What I lose in reality I gain in sane
I see the gleaming steel on the side of your ship.
The painted letters
graceful arches and swirls
the letters that spell out your name
I can never read
my heart jumps just the same
when your horn blows I melt with its vibrations
back down into the sand where
I’m still waiting for you to come in
to dock
