Self Discovery

Crippling pain that disturbs the peace, driving through the serenity of one's mind
Unexpected and yet deliberate Conscience-seeking Soul searching with nothing to find

Once polished to perfection Now destroyed by rejection
Can you look upon this past and discover a reflection

Raised to please and be all that is expected
Never knowing who you were once you were no longer being directed

Now your journey begins with that first step
Encouragement and confidence are constantly whispered in your ear so they may be kept

You are glowing now and are as bright as the sun
For you are yourself, Your life has now begun

About this poem

I wrote this poem for my sister. She has always been more than just a sister to me. Watching her heartache and her personal growth inspired me to write this poem.
