Reconnected Hearts

Reconnected Hearts

It’s been years since we last spoke,
Time passing like smoke,
Yet here you are, calling me again,
A familiar voice, a forgotten friend.

I can't recall the reason we drifted apart,
But when you speak, it stirs my heart.
Your eyes, like windows to days long gone,
And suddenly, all the distance feels wrong.

You say it was me, always running away,
But in my mind, the reasons stray.
Still, here we are, talking with ease,
Like the years vanished, like a gentle breeze.

We FaceTime for hours, lost in the night,
In the warmth of your voice, everything feels right.
The past is a blur, but this moment feels true,
Like we never left, like I never lost you.

What is this feeling? A spark that still shines,
A connection that’s deep, through the passage of time.
I can’t remember the why, but I know how it feels,
To talk to you again, where the heart slowly heals.

So here’s to the past, and the paths we’ve walked,
To the words unspoken, and the silence we’ve fought.
But now, in this moment, the heart knows no fear,
For I’m finally remembering why you’re so dear.

About this poem

This poem is inspired by reconnecting with someone from my past. After years of silence, he called me out of the blue, and it felt like no time had passed. His eyes, just as beautiful as I remembered, brought back feelings I didn’t know were still there. Though I can’t recall why we drifted apart, talking to him again felt so natural. It’s a reminder that some connections never truly fade, no matter how much time has passed.
