Birthday Memories

It's hard to think of a special birthday
So I made a call to my Mom to ask
She said you must be writing an essay
There's been many, and time is fast
There's always 16, 18, and 21
Can't remember where I was
Who I was with, or what I done
Those were special because of the laws
But there is one and I was turning 40
Got a surprise as I walked in the house
Seen decorations and said Lordy, Lordy!
I wanted this one kept quiet as a mouse.
I still have the hat that says "over the hill"
And the bottle of water called hot flash splash
I was the joke and family got their thrill
Pictures I have, the balloons long in the trash!
