Friday Veterans Day brings my girls
to their mom all day. Quiet as it looks
in our house with bacon smell
and dryer hum, Mom sees it all.
Constant loving meter Mom is. Bacon smell
and dryer hum soothe those growing girls.
The peaceful growing room to wear high heels
at seven, read book till one p.m. at 12,
rap at 13, Mom knows why.
Those tempers, smiles, twinkling eyes.
Diva dancing and Lord romances.
What more joy is there? Mom thanks God.
Because of futures wide open,
Mom tries not to panic and scare,
for inspiration and safety. The chance
to guide usually comes between bacon smells and dryer hum.
