Comeback

It's hard to make a cordial home
if you have been a shrew.
Multiply scolding by scolding, you get scolding in lieu.
It's hard to make a happy face
if you have been morose.
Multiply wailing by wailing, you get wailing up close.
It's hard to make a distant trip
if you have been dead still.
Multiply halting by halting, you get halting at will.
It's hard to make a songbird sing
if you have been in chase.
Multiply stalking by stalking, you get stalking as trace.
It's hard to make a solemn oath
if you have been untrue.
Multiply lying by lying, you get lying on cue.
It's hard to make a good comeback
if you have been nowhere.
Multiply nothing by nothing, you get nothing to share.
