Corner Smoke

Smoke rings circled the air as she took a drag,
Embers ablaze, fag smooth and straight,
Held in the corner of her mouth.
Fire burned within.
Her slender, pale fingers guided it in,
Nails painted red just for the occasion
Of a street corner smoke.
I watched my friend,
Her lips caressing the burn.
Nose wrinkling, i coughed,
Smoke in my eyes,
And watched her take a drag,
Her throat burning.
The embers reignited with each inhale
As the smoke curled through her lungs,
Dancing its dance of fire
Licking at her insides.
Her lips parted with a blissful expression,
As the smoke tumbled from between her exhale.
With an efficient final drag
Of the drug's addiction,
She let the cigarette drop
And released its last assault.

Sara "Sarienne Moineau" Craig

I'm a December child and I have been writing for the past 13 years. I graduated from a deteriorating, small- city school district June 2009, and I am currently trying to save up enough money to start college in the Spring. My poems are extensions of my soul, and in this I try to connect with the everyday problems and individuals therein. I'm painfully shy on the first look, and painfully outgoing on the second. I have 9 younger brothers and sisters, making me the oldest of 10 (these include step and half). My poetry tends towards the darker sides of emotion, mainly because writing about them feels better to me than acting them out in everyday situations. I appreciate the support from all my friends and family, and the support of your kind community. I love you all. <3 Sarienne Moineau more…
