Masks

Two tortured souls,
We yearned for peace,
Suffering in silence,
To say the least.

Dreamed every night,
Of losing our plight,
Pretending each day
That all was o.k.

But your mask started chipping,
And I threw mind away.
Now I dig through the dumpster,
Still wanting to play.
But you left with another,
Left me right here,
Still digging and ducking
And cowering in fear.

We made a good team,
In nobody's eyes.
They must have been listening
To my stifled cries.

I guess I got used to playing the part,
But now we're apart,
Forever apart.
And a part of me you'll always be,
Even if just these twisted memories.

I have always loved writing, all types, but especially in partnership with my music. I sing and write melodies for the words which I create. I am passionate about this. Hopefully, someday it will all pay off. Until then, I will enjoy this for what it is. more…
