Scatter
Polite conversation often leads
down paths seldom trodden
and coverred in leaves
beneath strange meadows
the twilight hours pass
between cool winters
which cover the grass
Our words skip like stones
cross rivers and brooks
and sink so gently
you'd scarce think to look
This quiet collection
I keep close at hand
till all wears away
and is scatterred
like sand
