Violent Mêlée

Solitude, a twisted songbird,
notes high; folded flutters slaughtered,
whispered sighs of isolation
that ring loud with tempered options.
Blue sky, a breath away in time,
tender tears which will never chime,
rhythm escapes cold loneliness
and rests upon a silent breath.

Romantic notions flee the heart,
soft shadows of tempo that sting,
a soul's captured in darkened art;
musical wings that quickly spring
across the mind's open canvas,
a ruffled field of warm crisis -
instrumental chords pluck the throat
as wonder waves its final note.

With a head full of shattered dreams,
footsteps that catch the spirit's screams,
love laughs her lithe, luscious desire
while freedom fuels promise's fire,
and now the night is wide awake,
filled with reflections of this ache.

One day, within a distant smile,
her beauty may invade once more,
but for the present's weight; worthwhile,
I'll doze on this derelict shore,
emotions sewn upon the sleeve
until required to take my leave.

The dance, it never ends it seems,
another beat bounces extremes
into the frowns that curl and swerve
through the lack of this pastel verve.

Chains of resignation are taut,
oceans of sorrow steal moonlight,
and here below ripples of thought,
an endless battle shows its might.

Perhaps respite will visit me,
and give pause to violent mêlée.
