Vision: So Coveted, So Damned

The power of sight is a heavy burden,
eyes entrusted to our delicate skulls.
It plays tricks on us with a deadpan face
and strips the world subconsciously naked.

How would it then register,
the feeling of a face contorted in ecstacy?
Would I be curious to see the sun ease back,
splashing color from the horizon?

Blindness would leave us bound to our other
senses of environmental interpretation.
Is it a disability if I never had the ability?
Should I avert my gaze from the mirror?
