I am a Caregiver and End of Life Doula. I am ever inspired by the natural world and the nature of people. I live in beautiful Maine with my husband and our small menagerie

Am I the Clam?

Invisible existence
Buried in muck
Paralyzed, constricted
Dark, Heavy and Stuck

Unaware the intentions
Of a predator hov’ring above
Mistaking attention
And grandeur for love

Oh, to be noticed
Plucked from that muck
A moment of soaring

I have read and Re-read Slow Down. I love the message. I love the simplicity. I love the flow. Good meditation feel, reminder to of the importance of presence.

i am feeling the same. After many rounds of reading, I have painfully winnowed it down to 4, Letting it marinate a bit longer.

thank you so much. I seem to be unable to get the payment part to work. It is glitching on my every attempt. It feels like paying should not be difficult :(

I was excited to challenge myself to enter again and disappointed to not be able to.

Good luck to all!

I have tried to submit. Although all went through last month no problem. It seems to not be accepting my payment info. Does anyone else struggle with this?

I am new to writing and learning to appreciate poetry. It took me a couple of reads to really start to absorb what I sensed was in there. If only we could solve all - with an electric fly zapper. How satisfying would that be?

Somebody’s Daughter was on my short list. Thank you for seeing and sharing your vision of the addict as a fellow human worthy of compassion and consideration. Compelling.

Additionally, I find your poem well constructed, and your words poignant. Thank you for sharing.

Congratulations!

Ghost Bride was on my short list! I was absolutely intrigued. In fact I was compelled to research what a ghost bride was as it was a practice I had never heard of before!

Your poem was compelling and for me, educational!

I look forward to reading more of your work!

Warmly,

Maggie

Thank you for sharing this poem. Are you truly seventeen? If so, I believe you are an old soul. I find your words to carry a beauty and wisdom beyond the regular scope of a person so young.

Unveiling Self-Love was on my very short list. I will continue watching for your work.

Warmly, Maggie

Hi Samuel,

Your poem, Happiness was on my short list. I love your exploration and searching for this elusive emotion. We are led to believe it is the goal we are all meant to strive for and success awaits if we can achieve it.

I have also done some writing and meditation on this topic and generally conclude that a healthier goal for me is to achieve a state of being content more often than not.

I think you have inspired me to rework this old journal reflection, so thank you.

Wishing you more positive than negative feelings!

Warmly,

Maggie
