Cigarettes
You smell like cigarettes and late nights
That cold smell from walks outside
amongst the thick smog of a bustling city
Lighter fluid sparking false hopes in my heart
I might too become an addiction for you
Break my bones and change your mind
Cars roar like untamed monsters of the night
Bottles of gin, vodka and every other liquor subdues our background
Edges grow fuzzy and my world begins to spin
Silvertone notes on the photo films of us
My head below water
I breathe you in deeply
Filling my lungs with poison on every inhale
A knife thrusting itself deeper into my mannequin heart
An eager desperation begging me to light another
Will you miss me when I'm gone?
The soft amber glow of the burn keeping me alive
Sane.
Please don’t leave me in the darkness
I don’t want to be alone.
