Good Days Like Today

Today was one of the good days
Exactly what I prayed for
Strawberry cake with glaze
And Fried Chicken Galore!

Family came to gather
We fellowshipped with food
The calories didn’t matter
Taste is what we pursued.

Occasionally I would glance
and catch you staring into space
so focused in this trance
with a sad look on your face

I can’t imagine what you’re thinking
or even how you’re feeling
Knowing your life clock is ticking
what emotions are you concealing

You snap out of your daze
and come back to earth
I pretend I’m not phased
I’m just glad you’re alert

Good days like today
is what I’ve been asking for
So I will continue to pray
even when my knees are sore
