Creating Poems

Creating Poems
By Christopher Commodore©2001

One good way to construct a poem,
Is to think up ideas and then note them.
Could be tree parts like xylem and phloem,
Or the dents de lions while you mow them.

Put your words into rhythm and music.
Not so highfalutin, just the basic;
Pay no mind to the words of the critic,
If they downplay your efforts in public.

Watch your poems develop in time;
Don’t forget to add rhythm and rhyme.
Be aware of the place and the climate,
But for all else, just don’t give a dime, mate.

If they compare your work to the masters,
Who themselves at times met disasters;
Still churn all your thoughts into motion,
Make your poems a quilt of creation.

For the millions who pass here unnoticed,
Let the poem be documentation.
For the love or the hate never practiced,
Let the poem scream loud in creation.
