Intimacy

Intimacy

It is invisible, a thread
around two bodies, it is spun.
As spinning wheel whirls in rotation,
it weaves the bodies into one.

Creates a spark that starts a fire,
yet danger, never a concern.
Although the flesh does feel the flaming,
in passion’s blaze, no bodies burn.

It is a scale that must be balanced
for weight of feather, it’ll detect.
If there is one, that does more taking,
surplus on one side, a defect.

Hence, then one heart begins to shatter
as hope is crushed by hands of lust.
Broken is bond, some tears collected
as scissors sever threads of trust.

For if it’s sex, one body’s seeking
while other, making love desires.
Scale will then tilt, become unbalanced.
Begin to smother, flames of fire.

About this poem

Thank you for welcoming me to this community. I was born in Cuba but emigrated with my family to the US when I was three. I am mother to three young adults now, and also a grandmother. I’ve been writing for years, some I share, others I still keep in my personal file. I often write of struggles for we all face them as we journey through life. But still, I feel peace knowing I try my best. Feel blessed to have been given the gift of writing which I strive to improve cause there’s always room for growth. more…

Simply an amazing work, honest and pure. Any kind of love without passion, well, just isn't any kind of love at all.
