Stolen Chance

In high school, I kept my feelings hidden,
A crush so strong, my heart forbidden.
Stars I drew upon your face,
In the yearbook, a secret place.

Twenty-two years had passed us by,
When fate stepped in, no longer shy.
You walked into my office that day,
Destiny's hand guiding our way.

Closer we grew, the years dissolved,
A love once lost, now re-evolved.
But time, relentless, took its toll,
In the end, it claimed your soul.

Now I'm left with memories sweet,
Of a love that blossomed, but incomplete.
Forever in my heart, you'll stay,
My high school crush, now gone away.
