Sand Sidewalks
Sandy sidewalks cracked and splintered, torn beneath the sacred ground.
Lost before beginnings started, I wonder if my soul was found.
Wandering past these silky starlit streets that rust before my eyes.
Will I wake before the sunset, will the moon find strength to rise?
Laughing at me, far above, in a space no one can breathe
If I walked and walked forever, did I stay or did I leave?Gentle breezes, grass is growing tickled toes and taste of rain
If I wait at one more bus stop- will the focus lose its frame?
Speaking softly, voices muddled- will I know which road to take
And if I choose, while choosing wisely, will it be my heart that breaks?
Or will I fall before I rise and dip my head beneath the sky
And ask again where to find meaning- if there is a reason why.
Why for what they may be asking- answers that are hard to find,
But if I knew the questions rendered maybe I could save some time.
A place, a moment, a feeling processed can my life be more than this?
If I wait and wait forever- who did I see, what will I miss?So in this place of dark confusion where my mind has lost control
It wanders sideways down the sidewalks and continues on its little stroll.
But here I wait and watch in silence as my heart is broken still,
And if in time I find me empty- who will be there to refill?Sandy streets all littered, cluttered filled with lost forgotten dreams,
Perhaps to some illusions tattered, broken left with no more means,
Can still be mended in the sunlight where our life begins to grow
Starting slowly, bitter triumphs, and where it leads I still don't know.
Candles glowing wax is spilling hot and liquid down my face
Tears of fire pouring, burning. Skins reborn but not replaced.
So I ponder in desperate pleading as the light begins to fade,
If in truth we had created such a place- could not be made.
Worn and wilting from the frosty freezing chill the air did form
If I ask and beg forgiveness, can my life be once reborn?Or will I die just where I started, death in time is still unkind,
Will my dreams all coiled, stunted, lose themselves in my lost mind?
Can the hope that I have strangled, held so tight it may be broken,
Now be swept away so swiftly by the tides unyielding ocean?
Has the earth just stumbled, sideways falling through an endless void
Is the sunshine lost in shadows, a fucked up world, we'd all avoid.
Can the windows opened slightly be a gift of life within?Or are the doors a distant memory once outside you can't get in.
Keys are melded, molded cut into the shapes that do not fit,
Not the doors we wish to enter, just lonely roads and that is it.
So here I stand, among you, sheltered, all alone inside this crowd,
If the voices crying, begging reach a volume much too loud.
Where are you when we need saviors, where are you when I am lost?
Scarred, and bleeding, lying naked, what is the price, what is the cost?
