Of Thunderbirds and Whales Tale

Beneath the waves, a leviathan's shadow crept,
A monstrous whale, its kinship wept.
It hunted its own, a terror unfurled,
Depriving the Quileute of the gifts of the world.

Meat and oil, the lifeblood of the tribe,
Stolen by the beast, a dark and greedy bribe.
In the mountains high, a watcher seen,
Thunderbird, the guardian, its eyesight keen.

It saw the hunger, the desperate plight,
Of the people below, devoid of light.
With a mighty beat of wings, it took to the sky,
Over coastal waters, its thunder a battle cry.

Into the ocean's heart, Thunderbird dove,
A clash of titans, from the heavens above.
Thunder roared, lightning split the night,
As ocean's fury and storm's might did unite.

Canoes tossed like feathers in a tempest's rage,
Many lives lost, an unwritten page.
Yet, Thunderbird's resolve would not be swayed,
Its talons locked on the whale, a fearsome blade.

High into the air, the whale was borne,
A spectacle of power, nature's fabric torn.
Then down it fell, a plummeting stone,
A tsunami unleashed, a punishment sown.

The cedar village, once a haven so fair,
Now but memories, in the salt-laden air.
Thunderbird's wrath, a lesson in its wake,
Respect the balance, for survival's sake.
