Walking Well Through Fire

Walking Well Through Fire

Burning coals make painful steps
As troubles rise in flames around me
Things beyond my control
Stretch high as prison walls and bars
Keeping me trapped
In a cell of innumerable suffering
Only the sweat on my brows
Cool my head as I walk well through fire.

It feels like I am just crawling
From hurdle to obstacle
Unrelenting stress weighing me down
With every blow of defeat
Setbacks heap bricks of burden
On every attempt I make
Only my stubborn refusal to accept
A beat down says walk well through fire.

Eyes up and forward propels me
As I go through this infernal Hell
All I have is my response
In the face of no control
The incessant beat of my battle drum
Inspired by a force beyond me
Drives my internal wheels
My soul victory walking well through fire!
